considering the tension between preservation and decay— and the human impulse to hold onto what cannot be kept: moments, memories, histories. After spending time in Certosa di Padula in Italy, I have been drawn to ritual and religious symbolism. This experience has deepened my interest in relics and reliquaries and their connection to our intrinsic need throughout time to try to be the keepers of things.
